COVID-19

A message to our clients,

As of May 14, the CDC has lifted its mask mandate for vaccinated people.  For businesses like ours, this creates many challenges as there is no clear roadmap how to handle “getting back to normal.”  Believe us when we say, we have missed you so much, and we cannot wait to open our doors to you.  However, to ensure that we are able to continue caring for your pets safely and efficiently, we will continue to operate via curbside appointments only for the time being.

We plan to revisit our policy as new information becomes available. We want to get back to normal as much as you do and ask for your patience as we work towards that goal.

In case you are interested in understanding the “why” behind our decision to remain curbside for the time being, there are several reasons:

  1. At this time, our team feels most comfortable with curbside appointments; we have small, enclosed spaces in our exam rooms with poor ventilation.
  2. We have no way of knowing who is vaccinated and who is not.
  3. Our priority is to keep our staff safe so they can continue to care for our patients.  Even one sick employee significantly impacts our ability to do that.
  4. We need time to properly prepare for changing our workflow to accommodate clients back into the building while abiding by current CDC guidelines and local regulations.

We will monitor and adjust our policy accordingly, but please remember that our priority is the health and safety of your pet and our staff.  This decision is not a reflection of the beliefs of any individual team member at Whittaker Road Animal Clinic, so please do not argue with our staff about this decision.

You all have been wonderful throughout this pandemic.  We respectfully ask you to be mindful that our staff is mentally and emotionally exhausted from the last year and we would prefer to spend our energy positively on caring for your pets, as opposed to debating this policy.  Our goal is a return to normal as quickly as we can while keeping our team members safe and comfortable.  We need time to do this and want to thank you in advance for your cooperation.

We will continue to send new information out to you as our policies change so that you can remain informed.  Once again, thank you so much for you continued support and understanding!
